The Structure Of A Narrative Essay: Tips For Newbies
From time to time you will be asked to write different types of essays, and it is important for you to make sure that you know how to structure every single one of them. Just because you are able to write in prose does not necessarily mean that you are able to deliver a good paper. More often than not students tend to make the mistake of assuming that writing in prose is all they need to deliver a good narrative. A narrative for example, is one of the most unique writing styles that you need to learn about. It is one of those pieces of literature that really showcase the best in you as a writer, as a learned student and most importantly as someone who really knows what they are talking about.
Before you start writing this paper, the following are the basic guidelines that you need to be aware of, because they will go so far in making sure that you are able to deliver one of the best papers so far. Typically this kind of writing has 5 different parts that you have to know about:
- 1. The plot
- 2. The characters
- 3. The setting
- 4. The climax
- 5. The ending
Before you start working on it, you need to spend as much time as you can to develop the characters of these parts of your story, and how you are going to put them into perspective. Putting things into perspective might sound so easy to say, but you can rest assured that it is as far from the truth as you can imagine.
The plot for example, gives a clean and short description of what the story is about. It is more like a summary of the entire work that you are supposed to do. When you are writing the plot, make sure that you do not divulge too much information to the point where it looks like you are already in the essay instead of outside of it.
You need to make sure that you spend as much time as possible in developing the characters to the narrative that you want to write about, then ensure the setting of the narrative is equally worked out vividly. With those three in check, you can then decide on where you want the climax of the story to be, and finally what the perfect ending will be.
